Christmasy treats | Florentines

If you believe that women in fashion don't eat you are very wrong. We eat a lot. It is fair to say that nothing goes down better at work than when someone appears with some foodie treats (usually demolished within minuets). So for Christmas I thought I'd feed my fellow Personal Shoppers these chocolate florentines. They went down very well so I thought I'd post the recipe. Its a great idea for a gift for a group of people especially at Christmas and its super easy!

You will need:
100g Milk Chocolate
100g White Chocolate
150g Dark Chocolate
100g Mixed Nuts
2x Crunchie Bars

Start by breaking up the chocolate into pieces and putting them in three separate bowls.

Cover some baking parchment over a baking tray and scatter the mixed nuts. Pop them in the oven at 180C for 8-10 mins to roast them. This makes the taste much richer and nuttier.

Once roasted, cut up the nuts on a chopping board into small chunks. The smell is amazing!

Do the same with the Crunchie bars and try to resist getting your face in all that goodness...
Next is the fun bit. Boil water in a pan and sit each bowl on top to melt the chocolate. Make sure the bowl doesn't touch the water as it may break the bowl.

Once all the chocolate has melted, spoon a teaspoon of each chocolate on top of each other on the baking parchment. I started with the dark chocolate as a base.

Once all three chocolates have been layered on top of each other use a fork or knife to swirl the chocolate together and spread out the puddle to make the florentines wider.

Sprinkle on the Crunchie and nuts generously and pop in the fridge. The chocolate sets quite quickly but I'd give at least 4 hours to be sure that they are hard. Once set they can be picked up straight from the paper really easily, they shouldn't stick. I transferred them in a tupperware box and apart from a few stray nuts they were pretty perfect when I got to work. Easy!
